Your relationship would work if you liked her cat, but if you loved her cat and all cats, that would be awesome. If you truly are allergic, you might want to go to your doctor and get a prescription ASAP. It may seem like she says, “I love you,” more often to her cat than to you, but that’s just because there’s more weight behind it when she says it to you. She knows that you don’t need to hear it all the time, and the cat isn’t paying attention anyway. If a cat is sleeping next to you either on the couch or on the bed, you need to adjust your body to accommodate the cat. Also, you’re going to have to think long and hard if getting up and moving the cat is worth your cat lady’s annoyance. There’s an unspoken code amongst cat people, and that’s “Don’t disturb the cat. Even if the cat is wearing a doofy cone. A good rule of thumb is usually: If she laughs, you can laugh.

By Emily Webber For Mailonline. Women looking for romance on dating apps perceive are less likely to swipe right if their potential suitor is holding a cat, according to new research. The study, carried out by scientists at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, at Colorado State University, found that profile photos of men holding cats were seen as ‘less dateable’ and ‘less masculine’ by many women. Men who held a confident pose and appeared alone in their profile pic were more likely to attract women, the survey found.
In the study by Colorado State University, women were asked to choose which photo, of a year-old man, they preferred. The scientists said it was possible that the women defaulted to the notion that the man alone was a ‘dog person’ or more likely to date a ‘dog person’. Straight women, aged between 18 and 24, living in the US, were asked to rate the same man posing with and without a cat on his lap.

Where did the idea for the story come from? The story was inspired by a small but nasty encounter I had with a person I met online. I was shocked by the way this person treated me, and then immediately surprised by my own shock. How had I decided that this was someone I could trust? The incident got me thinking about the strange and flimsy evidence we use to judge the contextless people we meet outside our existing social networks, whether online or off.
We decide that it means something that a person likes cats instead of dogs, or has a certain kind of artsy tattoo, or can land a good joke in a text, but, really, these are reassuring self-deceptions. Our initial impression of a person is pretty much entirely a mirage of guesswork and projection. When I started writing the story, I had the idea of a person who had adopted all these familiar signifiers as a kind of camouflage, but was something else—or nothing at all—underneath.
She repeatedly changes her mind about him. Do you think that she ever actually interprets his thoughts or behavior correctly? The point at which she receives unequivocal evidence about the kind of person he is is the point at which the story ends. Quite a bit of the story takes places through dialogue, whether face to face or via text. How hard is it to write dialogue that feels natural—or, in this case, that feels naturally stilted?
I just love cats! ‘Dating’ video that’s burning up the internet
A new study conducted by researchers at Colorado State University has found that women are less likely to swipe right on men if they’re posing with a cat in their dating profiles. The researchers showed a total of women — aged between 18 and 24 — photos of two men, both posed in two separate photos. One showed them with a cat and the other had them posed without one.
The women were then asked to rate the men on several attributes, including perceived personality, perceived masculinity or femininity, and perceived dateability, with scientists “asking directly if each participant would consider dating the man in the photo for a short or long term” period. Researchers say that their findings are likely the result of cultural stereotypes about cat and dog owners.
Straight women find straight men holding cats “less masculine” and not as ‘less masculine’ and ‘less dateable’ if they hold a cat in their dating.

These past few decades, social sciences such as psychology and sociology have delved more and more into the mysterious world of online dating. So yeah, this whole online dating thing is pretty serious.
Most would probably agree that one of the central parts of any dating profile is the photos a person decides to upload. You should try your best to make a good impression, right? But how do you even do that? What kind of photos should you put on your dating profile? These two scientists named Lori Kogan and Shelly Volsche were also interested in that. And they chose a quite unique angle to conduct research around. You can find the full article on the study they conducted here. 5 Reasons Why You Should Date a Cat Lady
A recent study out of Colorado State University and Boise State University suggests that a man holding a cat in profile photo might make women perceive him as less masculine and less datable. The study asked participants a series of questions regarding a photo of a man without a cat on several attributes, including perceived personality, perceived masculinity or femininity and perceived dateability, asking if each participant would consider dating the man in the photo for a short or long term.
The same questions were presented when they showed the same man holding a cat in the photo. Men posing with a cat were perceived as “less datable” by women. A total of people responded to the survey.
